Passivhaus Windows and Doors
GreenSteps Euro profile windows and Entrance and French doors can be supplied with the Gutmann Mira Therm certified Passivhaus aluminium cladding system. When combined with thicker Passivhaus glazing units, the overall u-value is 0.776W/m²K, or 0.71W/m2K for the enhanced glazing version. With the same advanced features as the Euro windows, Entrance and French doors, the Passivhaus windows and doors have the added advantages of exceptional heat loss prevention provided by the following features:

Passivhaus standard triple glazed units with Argon gas in both 16mm cavities, Low-E coating both sides and Thermix insulated 'warm edge' spacers. (Enhanced glazing version includes 2 x 18mm spacers).

The basic principle of a Passivhaus is to create a home with such an exceptional combination of insulation, use of solar and internal gains and airtightness, that the total energy demand for space heating and cooling is less than 15kWh/m²/yr treated floor area. Heating and hot water is usually provided by small services unit which includes a whole house ventilation system with heat recovery.
A critical part of the design of a Passivhaus is the correct choice of windows and doors.
