GreenSteps Wins Again - Essex Business Awards 2009
GreenSteps won the Environmental Awareness Category for the Essex Countywide Business Awards 2009
Following on from our success in the Mid Essex Business Awards 2008, GreenSteps has won the Environmental Awareness Category in the Essex Countywide Business Awards 2009.
Describing GreenSteps, Keith Smith of the judges Basildon District Council said: "GreenSteps has an outstanding policy of ensuring the business has as little impact on the environment as the products they sell. The recently built office has been designed with particular care to ensure miserly heat and light energy needs. The firm ensures minimal travel and use minimal and recyclable packaging for its products. It has recently started supplying one of the large DIY warehouse chains, always an achievement for a small business, but GreenSteps took the bold move to convince new customers to accept more recyclable packaging and lower energy, but slower product shipments, even though these actions did not increase revenue."
GreenSteps MD Ben Nickell and his wife Sophie attended the awards ceremony to collect the award. Speaking after the awards ceremony, Ben Nickell said "It is wonderful to be recognised for all the hard work which goes on to reduce our environmental impact. GreenSteps is making huge strides forwards with our distribution network of retailers, but we will not lose sight of the ethos behind the whole business. We will always strive to minimise and eliminate any adverse effects on the environment and to help our customers to do the same. Our customers need to be confident that we practice what we preach."
