GreenSteps appointed to advise KT Tunstall, 2nd July 2007
GreenSteps has been appointed to advise and supply KT Tunstall on the eco-refurbishment of her home in NW London. KT Tunstall is well known for her outspoken stance on global warming and the differences we can all make as individuals.
Speaking to charity Global Cool, KT said "Stop completely tw**ting your planet, because we haven't got anywhere else to live!"
KT's home refurbishment will include using a super efficient heating and hot water system, insulating the home using breathable and natural fibres throughout, decorating with breathable eco-paints and a fully integrated bank of solar photovoltaic cells on the roof. All the wood used within the development will be reclaimed and locally sourced.
Speaking about the project, GreenSteps' managing director Ben Nickell said: "It's great that KT is really embracing the principles of greener living. Once it's completed, KT's home will be wonderfully warm, comfortable, efficient and healthy and will last many, many years. Importantly, the impact that her home has on the environment will be a fraction of what it was before the work started. Using her celebrity status to promote green issues is an enormously worthwhile thing to do. Leading by example with her own home really shows what can be achieved when a little care is taken to use the right materials and technologies."
The project will be filmed for a 30 minute television programme due to be screened later in the year.
