Thermafleece technical information
Thermafleece insulation is manufactured in Britain from 100% pure British sheep's wool. Much of the wool used would otherwise be a waste product. Using wool in this way helps to support British sheep farming.
Warm in Winter - Cool in Summer
Thermafleece is manufactured to a density of 25kg/m3 to give a K-value of 0.039W/m.K, meaning it has excellent insulating properties. Thermafleece absorbs moisture in the winter, which can increase peak temperatures by up to 4 degrees when compared to buildings with alternative forms of insulation. In the summer, when the outside temperature increases and heats the wool it releases moisture. This cools the building and can reduce peak temperatures by up to 7 degrees when compared to buildings in which alternative forms of insulation are installed.
Naturally breathable - condensation control
Thermafleece is hygroscopic meaning it can absorb and release moisture whilst still retaining its insulating properties. This makes it ideal for roofs and timber framed walls as it allows water vapour to migrate through the structure. When wool absorbs moisture from the air it generates heat through 'sorption'. This means that Thermafleece prevents condensation in contruction cavities by maintaining the temperature above the dew-point in damp conditions.
Energy efficient, healthy and safe
Thermafleece is manufactured using only 14% of the energy used in the manufacture of glass fibre. Thermafleece can be installed without gloves or protective clothing as it is not irritating to the skin, eyes or respiratory tract. Any fibres which find their way into your home's living space will present no health hazard. Insect proofing and fire resistance is achieved using naturally derived additives.
Durable and Recyclable
Thermafleece adapts to the shape of rafters, joists and studs to provide a permanently tight fit. Properly installed, Thermafleece will retain its insulating properties for the life of the building. At the end of its useful life, Thermafleece can be recycled for other environmentally friendly applications. Thermafleece contains no permethrin, pyrethroids, pesticides or formaldehydes.
